Acne Scarring
Acne is the most common skin disorder. According to a national consumer attitude survey, many people think acne is caused by diet, oily hair or failing to wash the face enough. In fact, hormonal imbalances and changes, stress and heredity are the major contributors to acne. There are many solutions available to remove this scar. Some of them are listed below:
- Accutane is a commonly prescribed drug for cystic acne.
- Ortho Tri-Cyclen An oral contraceptive, used to lower the level of the serum free-testosterone, the hormone that contributes to acne breakouts.
- Alpha hydroxy acid has been proven to peel, exfoliate, and rejuvenate the top layers of skin. Glycolic & alpha hydroxy acid peels correct the skin by promoting cell desquamation, resulting in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Chemical peels (Salicylic acid, TCA, Jessner's and Phenol) Used in different concentrations, these chemicals cause destruction to the deeper layer of the skin.
- Hyaluronic acid, Collagen, Fat, Artecoll these materials are injected under the scar to bring it to surface level.
- Microdermabrasion is considered effective for acne scarring and to prevent acne outbreaks through a mechanical process.
- The latest treatment options for acne scarring are lasers, such as the pulsed carbon dioxide (CO2) laser and the Erbium: YAG laser.
